- Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 19 (LC-19) is a launch site at Merritt Island, Cape Canaveral, Florida. Notably, it was used by NASA to launch all of the Gemini manned spaceflights. It was also used by unmanned Titan I and Titan II launch vehicles. It was in use from 1959 to 1966, during which time it saw 27 launches, 10 of which were manned. The first use of LC-19 was on August 14, 1959. This was a Titan I, and the mission was declared a failure after the rocket exploded whilst still on the pad. The first successful launch to use LC-19 was also a Titan I, on February 2, 1960. It was closed following the departure of Gemini XII, on November 11, 1966. The original white room from the top of the launch tower has been restored and is on display at the Air Force Space & Missile Museum located at Complex 26. The degradation of Pad 19 itself is documented at http://pad19. org by a Docent of the above-referenced CCAFS Space and Missile Museum at http://spacemuseum. org.
