  • Calendar is the local news programme for ITV Yorkshire (formerly Yorkshire Television), first broadcast on 29 July 1968. Unlike many regional news programmes, Calendar adopted a magazine-style approach and benefited from heavy investment by YTV in local news gathering. The programme is broadcast from ITV Yorkshire's main studios in Leeds with reporters based at newsrooms in Sheffield, Hull and Lincoln. The programme is broadcast with opt-outs for the North and South of the region each weeknight at 6:00pm with a full sub-regional bulletin from Monday to Friday after News at Ten. Short bulletins are also broadcast during GMTV, on weekday lunchtimes and at the weekend. During the early years, the Calendar title had been used by various programmes produced by YTV in both news and other genres, including the short-lived Good Morning Calendar breakfast show; the parliamentary programme Calendar Lobby; and Calendar Catwalk, a fashion show. The name Calendar was also attached to the local version of the Channel 4 launch show, Countdown, which ran for one series on Yorkshire Television before the start of Channel 4 as Calendar Countdown. The programme celebrated its 40th birthday on 29 July 2008 with a pan-regional special.
