- Cornelius John "Neal" Bolin, Jr. (December 1, 1924 - July 2, 2007), was a Democratic state court judge in Shreveport from 1968 to 1990. Bolin was born to C.J. Bolin, Sr. (1887-1973), and the former Annie Walker (1895-1979) in Mansfield. The family moved to Shreveport, and Bolin graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1941. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He received his law degree in 1952 from Louisiana State University and practiced law in Shreveport for six years until he was appointed an assistant district attorney for Caddo Parish, a position he held for eleven years. Bolin was elected judge of the First Judicial District, Division "C" in Caddo Parish, on August 17, 1968 and was re-elected unopposed until his retirement. During his tenure, he served twice as Chief Judge. After retirement, he twice served the court as a temporary judge. He was an active member of the American, Louisiana, and Shreveport bar associations, the American Legion, and the Kiwanis Club, having served as club president in 1972. Bolin died in Shreveport and was interred in Forest Park Cemetery. He was survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Madeline Morvan (born 1928) and their six children: Madeline Ann Nance; John H. Bolin; Adele Hartrick, Glenn Hartrick; Jeanise Mulcahy, Patrick Mulcahy; Robert Bolin, Shelley Bolin, and Martin Bolin, and eleven grandchildren. Chief District Court Judge Charles Scott said Bolin "was a good mentor to many of the judges of the courthouse. He was a good friend and a good family man. He served the community very well, and we are saddened by his death."
