- The burning bush is an object described by the Book of Exodus as being located on Mount Horeb; according to the narrative, the bush was on fire, but was not consumed by the flames, hence the name. In the narrative, the burning bush is the location at which Moses was appointed by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into Canaan. The Hebrew word used in the narrative, that is translated into English as bush, is seneh (סנה), which refers in particular to brambles; seneh is a biblical dis legomenon, only appearing in two places, both of which describe the burning bush. It is possible that the reference to a burning bush is based on a mistaken interpretation of Sinai (סיני), a mountain described by the Bible as being on fire, and scholars think that the reference to the burning bush in Deuteronomy, in particular, is a copyist's error, and was originally a reference to Sinai.

També creix en punts de l'interior de la península ibèrica. És molt similar a una espècie del mateix gènere Dictamnus, el gitam Dictamnus hispanicus però no és tan apreciada respecte a les seves propietats medicinals.
- Hořící keř nebo ohnivý keř se objevuje v biblické knize Exodus ve vyprávění o události na hoře Oreb (Ex 2,23-4,18), při níž se podle tohoto vyprávění Mojžíšovi zjevil v hořícím keři Bůh a sdělil mu své pravé jméno, JHVH, podle překladu Septuaginty „Jsem který jsem“. Příběh se stal inspirací mnoha uměleckých děl; keř, který hořel aniž shořel, namaloval například Oskar Kokoschka.

- Krzew gorejący - postać, pod którą - wg Księgi Wyjścia - Bóg Jahwe objawił się pod Horebem i przemówił do Mojżesza . Obecnie zwrot jest używany w znaczeniu słowa cud. Jest to także nazwa potoczna dyptamu jesionolistnego, rośliny porównywanej do biblijnego krzewu z uwagi na skłonności do samozapłonu przy wysokiej temperaturze.

Скорее всего, реальным прообразом Неопалимой Купины послужило растение ясенец белый, встречающееся на Синайском полуострове, выделяющее летучее эфирное масло, которое легко воспламеняется на солнце.
