Zij was een dochter van Willem George Sayn-Hachenburg-Kirchberg en Isabella Auguste van Reuss oudere linie. Zelf trouwde ze op 31 juli 1788 met Frederik Willem van Nassau-Weilburg. Het paar kreeg de volgende kinderen: George Willem August Hendrik Belgicus (1792-1839), hertog van Nassau Augusta (1794-1796) Henriëtte Alexandrine (1797-1829), gehuwd met aartshertog Karel van Oostenrijk-Teschen Frederik (1799-1845) Zij was - via haar zoon Willem - de overgrootmoeder van de Nederlandse koningin Emma.
