The Brusselpoort is the sole remaining city gate of the original twelve gates of the city of Mechelen, Belgium. This imposing structure dates from the 13th century. Because of her exceptional height, towering above the other gates, she was also called the 'Overste poort' (superior gate). In the 16th century, the towers were lowered and the roof construction was altered to her present configuration.

In the course of the centuries, the building had many different uses: from police station to youth center, from duty collector's office to artist's workshop. It is now the history museum of Mechelen, starting in the early 11th century. It covers extensively the glorious Burgundian and Habsburg past (1400-1550) and the dark period of the religious wars and the following upheavals. It then shows how Mechelen grew into its present form between 1750 and 1900.

Ze staat zelfs midden op de ringweg rond Mechelen, op de kruising met de Hoogstraat. De poort werd in de 13e eeuw gebouwd. Tussen 1264 en 1268 werd de stadsomwalling aangelegd. In Mechelen waren er 12 poorten. De Brusselpoort was de hoogste en werd daardoor Overste poort genoemd. Oorspronkelijk was er een andere poort die Brusselse poort heette, maar door de afbraak van die poort werd de Overste poort hernoemd. Het gebouw is opgetrokken in Doornikse steen, en rond 1400 verhoogd met Balegemse steen (lichtere kleur). Het behoort tot de Scheldegotiek. In de 16e eeuw werden de torens verlaagd en werd de dakconstructie veranderd. Naast de functie van toegangspoort werd het gebouw nog voor andere doeleinden gebruikt. Zo was er een politiekantoor, een vergaderlokaal en het kunstatelier van Alfred Ost. Momenteel is het een museum over de geschiedenis van de stad. Het bevat documenten en archeologische vondsten.
