Brooktree is an American company founded in 1983 by Henry Katzenstein to commercialize his new architecture for digital to analog converters that was 3-8 times better than the competition at the time. Brooktree was bought by Rockwell Semiconductors in 1996, which became Conexant in 1998. Brooktree is well known for their PCI video capture chipsets like the Bt848 and Bt878. These were frequently used by Hauppauge.
