Professor Sir Brian Howard Harrison was the editor of Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, published by Oxford University Press, from January 2000 to September 2004 and Professor of Modern History at the University of Oxford. He is an Emeritus Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, he was appointed knight bachelor in the 2005 New Year's Honours, and he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy on 30 July 2005.
