The Rt Rev. Brian Arthur Smith is the current Bishop of Edinburgh . He was born in Edinburgh on 15 August 1943 and educated at George Heriot's School, Edinburgh and the University of Edinburgh. Ordained in 1973 he began his career with a Curacy at Ripon College Cuddesdon. From here he became successively Director of Training within the Diocese of Wakefield, Archdeacon of Craven and Suffragan Bishop of Tonbridge before elevation to the Edinburgh See.
