El 1811, un incendi va destruir el castell, així com gran part del caseriu del voltant, i, posteriorment, es va dur a terme una reconstrucció del conjunt. Actualment, el castell disposa del Museu Nacional Eslovac, que abasta exhibicions arqueològiques, històriques i artístiques.
