Daraufhin trennte sich die Gruppe, bis sie sich im Jahr 1998 in der ursprünglichen Besetzung wiedervereinte und das Album Foundation präsentierte. Wieder widmeten sich die Mitglieder ihren Soloprojekten, schlossen sich aber sechs Jahre später erneut zusammen und veröffentlichten 2004 ihr fünftes Studioalbum, Fire In The Hole. Der der Gruppe selbst gewidmete Titel Brand Nubian war das Titelstück des Computerspiels Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Er enthielt Samples von George Clinton und Cameo.
