Le disque a été lancé sur le marché international l'année suivante, avec deux différences majeures: le titre de la pièce Ceci n'est pas une chanson a été raccourci pour Une chanson, alors que plusieurs couplets en anglais ont été rajouté à Forest, un titre qui était originalement chanté en français uniquement par le québécois Jean Leloup. De plus, les pièces Rainshine, Carry On et Old School ont été ajoutées à cette nouvelle version du disque. Couch Surfer est un autre extrait de Glee. L'album contient une étonnante reprise acoustique, avec voix féminines, de Come On Feel The Noise du groupe glam rock Slade. Plusieurs échantillonnages peuvent être entendus sur l'album, dont un extrait de Oh Bondage Up Yours de X-Ray Spex sur le morceau initial, Gimme Sheldon. Le disque est dédié à « John The Wolf », qui est le surnom de Jean Leloup. Glee a remporté le prix Juno pour le meilleur album alternatif de l'année en 1998 au Canada. Bran Van 3000 a récidivé en 2001 avec un second effort, aussi salué par la critique que le précédent. Dans la liste des collaborateurs, on retrouve Curtis Mayfield et le Sénégalais Youssou N'Dour.

De groep richt zich vooral op alternatieve dance en electro. De groep lanceerde de eerste single "Drinking in LA" in 1997 in Canada. De single werd een bescheiden electrohit. Later in datzelfde jaar kwam het debuutalbum "Glee" uit. In 1998 bereikte deze plaat de gouden status. Met het internationaal uitbrengen van de plaat in 1998 groeide ook het succes van de single "Drinking in LA", die in Groot-Brittannië de derde plaats in de hitlijsten behaalde. In 2001 kwam het tweede album "Discosis" uit. Hierop stond onder andere het lied "Astouned", dat een samenwerking was van Bran Van 3000 met Curtis Mayfield. "Astouned" was de laatste opname van Mayfield voor zijn dood. Het lied werd wereldwijd een hit in het alternatieve circuit. In Nederland werd het nummer onder meer in 2001 uitgeroepen tot 3FM Megahit. Naast Mayfield stonden er op het album samenwerkingen met onder andere de Senegalese zanger Youssou N'Dour en Eek-a-Mouse. Het derde album, "Rosé" kwam uit in 2007. De eerste single van dit album heette "Call Me (I'll Be Around)".
