Brad Heald is the current bassist in the Australian garage rock band The Vines and the current guitarist of Sydney band Red Riders. He officially replaced Patrick Matthews, the previous bassist of The Vines, who left during the Annandale Hotel performance in 2004 where Craig Nicholls reportedly kicked a photographer. He joined the band in July 2006, making his first appearance with the band at Splendour in the Grass. He was originally in the Sydney local band D'Arcy.

His first connection with the band was when he met Ryan Griffiths at a house party. He recorded the bass for several tracks for Scott Burns' debut album and completed all his bass tracks for Melodia, his first album with the Vines, in late 2007 and early 2008 respectively. In 2009, he performed various DJ sets with Vines drummer Hamish Rosser, the most notable of which occurred in Towradgi, New South Wales, opening for Ratatat and Tame Impala. His most recent work is "Drown In Colour", the new album from the Red Riders, released in June 2009. His favourite music includes The Kinks, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, The Strokes and The Pixies. He enjoys surfing and plays a Fender Jaguar Bass. Brad studied at Sylvania High School and grew up in Blakehurst. Prior to his success in the music industry, he was once a male nurse. He is also an avid Christian who would often frequent his local church in the Sutherland Shire area.
