Înainte de tratatul de la Passarowitz, au mai fost formate 28 de avanposturi, mai mult de jumate dintre le de-a lungul frontierelor. Acest tip de administratie militarizată corspundea "Frontierei militare austriece" de cealaltă parte a granitei.
