Blue Moves is the eleventh studio album by British singer/songwriter Elton John, released in 1976. It was also his second double album, and his first album recorded by his own Rocket Records Ltd. While giving a concert at Wembley Arena to promote the album, he spontaneously announced "That's it, this is the last one. " He didn't say for how long, but he was serious and temporarily left the scene. Elton John has stated that Blue Moves is one of his favourite albums he has ever recorded.

This is Gus Dudgeon's last album produced for almost a decade. An excerpt from "Out of the Blue" was used for the closing titles on Top Gear up until the end of that Top Gear format.

Très riche, "Blue Moves" bénéficie d'orchestrations comme on n'en avait plus entendues depuis "Madman Across The Water", mais également de sons électroniques introduits par le claviériste James Newton Howard (également claviériste de Toto sur certains albums, et actuellement compositeur de BO pour M. Night Shyamalan ou Peter Jackson). On y trouve trois titres instrumentaux, quatre de plus de six minutes, et des styles allant du rock progressif au jazz. C'est également l'un des albums les plus sombres d'Elton John, et qui, malgré son succès jamais démenti, ne contient qu'un seul tube planétaire : "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word". Enfin, la chanson "Cage The Songbird" est un émouvant hommage à Edith Piaf.
