A separate spin off open-air festival called Bloodstock Open Air was launched in 2005 to complement the indoor version. The festival usually took place over the first weekend in September, but in 2006 the event was moved to the last weekend (29-30 September). Bloodstock attracts metal music fans of all ages and also has an enthusiastic attendance from members of several media organisations including national broadsheet newspaper, the Daily Telegraph. Bloodstock offered fans the opportunity to meet the bands at signing sessions and socialise at a number of bars within the Assembly Rooms complex. The festival organisers offer programmes and official T-shirts for sale.
