Black Box (later Blackbox) was a house music group popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The members of the group included a trio made up of a club DJ (Daniele Davoli), a classically trained clarinet teacher (Valerio Semplici), and a keyboard and electronic music "wiz" (Mirko Limoni). The three had previously joined to form a group called Groove Groove Melody, producing dance music under names such as Starlight (who had a UK Top 20 hit in January 1990 with "Numero Uno") and Wood Allen.

In den englischen Charts ebenfalls hoch platziert war 1991 der „Total Mix/Bright on Time“, ein Megamix zusammen mit einem umbenannten „Ride on time“ als Single zum zweiten Album „Remixland“. „Strike it up“, ein Top-10-Hit in den USA, und „Open your eyes“ waren die Vorboten zum 1992er Album „All mixed up“. Nach ein paar Monaten Pause erschien in einigen Ländern als Promopressung „Hold on“, die letzte Single mit Martha Wash, die aber wieder nicht im Video zu sehen war. 1993 folgten mit neuer Sängerin Hits wie „Rockin' to the music" (Platz 1 in Finnland, Platz 39 in UK), 1994/95 „Not anyone" (Platz 31 in UK) und „I got the vibration" 1996 (Platz 21 in UK) und der Top-40-Hit „Native New Yorker“ vom vor allem in Japan erfolgreichen Album „Positive Vibrations“. 2005 kam „You Got The Love“ zusammen mit The Source & Candi Staton auf den Markt und erreichte Platz 7 der UK-Charts. Hintergrund war die letzte Episode der Serie Sex and the City, in der „You Got The Love“ als „Abschiedsstück“ lief.
