Billy Guy Anderson was an American college and professional football player. A quarterback, he played college football at the University of Tulsa. Anderson established school and NCAA records as the starting quarterback in 1965. Led the nation in passing and total offense while setting school records for most passing yards in one game (502), most passing yards in a season (3,464), most completions for a game (42) and most passing attempts in one game (65).

Anderson established school and NCAA records as the starting quarterback in 1965. Led the nation in passing and total offense while setting school records for most passing yards in one game (502), most passing yards in a season (3,464), most completions for a game (42) and most passing attempts in one game (65). Completed 58 percent of his passes and had 30 touchdowns passes in 1965. Was an All-Missouri Valley Conference performer his senior season. Anderson played professionally in the American Football League for the Houston Oilers in 1967 and was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1965. He died on April 11, 1996 of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gherig's Disease). He is survived by his wife Tammie Anderson and three children: Gia Hollingsworth, Roman Anderson and Mackenzie Anderson along with seven grandchildren. His son, Roman, named after his godfather Roman Gabriel was a kicker for the University of Houston and played in the Canadian Football League. His grandson, Colby Hollingsworth, was a running back for Virginia Military Institute.
