William Francis Almon was a utility player who had a 15 year career from 1974 to 1988. He played first base, second base, shortstop, third base, outfield and designated hitter. He played for the San Diego Padres, Montreal Expos, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Philadelphia Phillies all of the National League, and the Chicago White Sox and Oakland A's both of the American League. Almon played collegiate baseball at Brown University. He was the number one pick in the 1974 amateur draft.
