Bijan Namdar Zangeneh is an Iranian politician. Zangeneh was born in the western city of Kermanshah in 1953. He spent his early school years in his hometown before moving to Tehran where he received his high school diploma. He received his M.S. in civil engineering from University of Tehran in 1977. Following the victory of the 1979 revolution, Zangeneh became a faculty member of Khajeh Nasireddin University.

Following the victory of the 1979 revolution, Zangeneh became a faculty member of Khajeh Nasireddin University. He was appointed deputy minister of culture and Islamic guidance in Mohammad-Ali Rajai's government. Immediately after the formation of the Construction Jihad Ministry in 1983, Zangeneh headed the ministry. He was appointed as minister of energy in the government of Mir-Hossein Mousavi in 1988. He also served as energy minister in president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's cabinet. He was the minister of petroleum in Mohammad Khatami's cabinet. Zangeneh was replaced by Kazem Vaziri Hamane as the temporary supervisor of the ministry on August 29, 2005, as appointed by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He was appointed as member of the Expediency Council by the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in 1996. He currently teaches at several universities and academic centers.
