The Besarabsky Market, also frequently called Besarabka is an indoor market located in the center of Kiev at the south-west end of Khreshchatyk, the main and best known street of the city. The market was built from 1910-1912 to the design of H. Hay. The name of the market originates from Bessarabia, a region conquered by the Russian Empire during the Russo-Turkish Wars and now partially located at south-western Ukraine in the Odessa Oblast.   • Бессара́бский ры́нок или Бессара́бка — крупный крытый рынок, расположенный в центре Киева на Бессарабской площади, которая находится на западном конце Крещатика, главной и наиболее известной улицы города. Построен в 1910—1912, на деньги известного сахарозаводчика Лазаря Бродского, завещанные им после смерти. Открыт 3 (16) июля 1912 года. Название рынка восходит к Бессарабии, региону, освобождённому от турецкого владычества Российской империей в ходе русско-турецких войн и находящемуся частично на территории сегодняшней Украины в Одесской области.
