Brahmapur or Berhampur, nicknamed "The Silk City", is a city located in the eastern coastline of Ganjam district of the Indian state of Orissa. It is one of the oldest and largest cities of Orissa. It is famous for its silk, its temples and its culture. The latest estimate of the population of the city is 702,672 (2009 est. ) making it the fourth most populous urban area in the state and 109th overall in India.
