  • De Belgische Eifel is eigenlijk een onderdeel van de oostelijke Belgische Ardennen maar omdat zij zich in het Duitstalige deel bevindt en landschappelijk een soort overgangsgebied met de Duitse Eifel vormt, wordt zij ook wel als de Belgische Eifel aangeduid. De streek valt samen met het zuidelijke deel van de Duitstalige Gemeenschap en de volkstaal van oudsher het Duits of het Luxemburgs, dat ook in het aangrenzende deel van Groothertogdom Luxemburg wordt gesproken. Sankt Vith is de hoofdplaats van de streek. De Belgische Eifel behoort tot de hogere gedeeltes van de Ardennen (respectievelijk de Eifel); bepaalde toppen komen boven de zeshonderd meter uit. Ook is zij dicht met vooral naaldbomen bebost en dunbevolkt.
