Behexen are a Finnish black metal band founded in 1994. They adopted a more traditional approach to black metal by incorporating raw characteristics. Their first full-length release was "Rituale Satanum", released in 2000 and followed by "By the Blessing of Satan" in 2004. They have also released a split with Horna (12" LP limited to 500 and CD 1000 pieces) and a 3-vinyl set "From the Devil's Chalice" (limited to 666 copies). Behexen toured Europe in 2005, as a support act to Archgoat.

Die Band selbst bezeichnet den eigenen Stil als „True Satanic Black Metal“. Dementsprechend behandeln die Texte der Band größtenteils Satanismus, die Figur des Teufels und Lobpreisungen auf diesen. Zudem beinhalten sie eine Vielzahl blasphemischer Äußerungen, wie z. B. in dem Lied Christ Forever Die auf dem Debüt-Album, wo sich antichristliche Aussagen wie „Look at the god's bastard son as he is hanging on the cross doing that only thing he can“ finden. Die Band hat bisher drei Alben sowie ein Split-Album mit Horna produziert, sowie ein dreiteiliges Vinyl-Set mit dem Titel From the Devil’s Chalice herausgegeben, welches auf 666 Stück limitiert wurde. Überdies sind die Bandmitglieder Torog und Horns in der Black Metalband Sargeist tätig. 2005 fand eine Europa-Tour statt.

Reaper però se ne andò nel 1998, sostituito da Gargantum, per ritornare nel 2004, facendo diventare così il gruppo un quartetto con due chitarre, con la presenza di Shatraug, anche negli Horna e nei Sargeist, nelle vesti di bassista durante i concerti. Per quanto riguarda invece il rapporto con le case discografiche, il gruppo ebbe nel 2000 problemi con la Sinister Figure, loro etichetta discografica per il disco Rituale Satanum, che lo tenne, si può dire, "in gabbia" per 3 anni, dopodiché cambiarono subito etichetta, accasandosi con la Woodcut Records. Adesso sono sotto l'ala protettrice della Hammer of Hate. Inoltre, il nome del gruppo significa "posseduti".
