  • 万家岭战役指，1938年武汉会战中，在万家岭一带國民革命軍围歼日本军队第106师团大部。 中国方面为第九战区代司令长官薛岳指挥的第四军，第七十四军，第六十六军，第一八七师，第九十一师，新编第十三师，第一四二师，第六十师，预备第六师、第十九师，第一三九师的一个旅，新编第十五师的一个旅，共十万余人。前敌总指挥为第九集团军司令吴奇伟。 日本方面为侵华派遣军第106师团，师团长为松浦淳六郎中将。第106师团下辖步兵第111旅团（步兵113联队、147联队）和第136旅团（步兵123联队、145联队），以及骑兵、炮兵、工兵、辎重各一个联队。 日军第106师团奉冈村宁次命令，意图从万家岭一带传插，被薛岳发现，组织兵力包围。冈村宁次后命令第27师团接应第106师团，然而被中国军队阻击。國民革命軍成功围歼第106师团大部，只有约1700人逃逸。1938年10月13日，中国军队撤出战场。 此次战役是抗日以来第一次（接近）全歼整个日本师团。 叶挺将军曾评价万家岭战役为：“万家岭大捷，挽洪都于垂危，作江汉之保障，并与平型关、台儿庄鼎足而三，盛名当垂不朽。”
