The Battle of Pingxingguan, also commonly called the "Great Victory of Pingxingguan" in Mainland China, was an engagement fought between the 8th Route Army of the Communist Party of China and the Imperial Japanese Army on September 25, 1937. It resulted in a minor, morale-boosting victory in which the 8th Route Army was able to capture a cache of weapons and annihilate a Japanese brigade.

En septembre 1937, les forces japonaises, venant de remporter avec aisance une série de victoires, envahissaient le Shanxi : l'Armée nationale révolutionnaire chinoise tenta sans succès de les arrêter à Taiyuan Dans le cadre de cette invasion, une colonne de l'armée japonaise et des troupes supplétives du Mandchoukouo, engagée dans le défilé de Pingxingguan, tomba dans un guet-apens tendu par la 115e division communiste dirigée par Lin Biao . Les communistes parvinrent à anéantir les troupes ennemies, à repousser les forces armées japonaises arrivées en renfort, et à s'emparer d'un convoi de cent camions, comportant des armes, du matériel et du ravitaillement. Le Parti communiste chinois vit dans cette opération qui vit se réaliser sa première grande prise de matériel lourd une illustration de l'efficacité de la tactique de guérilla prônée notamment par Mao Zedong, permettant de vaincre un ennemi mieux armé et supérieur en nombre. La défaite des Japonais dans cette bataille ne les empêcha cependant pas de conquérir la région, où les communistes poursuivirent ensuite leurs actions de guérilla.
