The Battle of Kumanovo on 23 - 24 October 1912 was a major battle of the First Balkan War. It was an important Serbian victory over the Ottoman army in Vardar Macedonia, shortly after the outbreak of the war. After this defeat, the Ottoman army abandoned the major part of Vardar Macedonia, suffering heavy losses in manpower (mostly due to desertions) and in war material.

Турецкий командующий решил разбить войска противника до того, как к тем прибудут подкрепления — на помощь 1-й сербской армии из Приштины шла 3-я сербская армия. В 10 часов утра 23 октября турецкие войска перешли в наступление на левом фланге и затем атаковали в центре Моравскую дивизию. Зекки-паша решил окружить сербскую армию с флангов, для этого часть турецких войск попыталась обойти сербскую армию с правого фланга. В ответ Радомир Путник растянул свои войска в 30-километровый фронт. В полдень ситуация стала меняться в пользу сербской армии. Наступление турецких войск было остановлено. В 7 часов вечера турецкая армия попыталась взять реванш и вновь перешла в наступление. Во время ночного боя обе стороны активно применяли артиллерию, в связи с чем понесли большие потери. В 11 часов вечера турецкие войска вновь отступили, а сербская армия стала готовиться к атаке. Утром 24 октября армия сербов после артиллерийской подготовки перешла в наступление. Турецкие войска были застаны врасплох, поэтому сопротивления почти не оказывали. Сербские войска для экономии пуль вырвались в окопы противника и брали его «на нож». В 2 часа дня Западная турецкая армия отступила на юг, что означало победу сербских войск.
