Barossa German refers to a dialect of German, which was once common in South Australia. The prominent South Australian writer, Colin Thiele (1920-2006), whose grandparents were German immigrants, referred to "Barossa Deutsch" as: "that quaintly inbred and hybrid language evolved from a century of linguistic isolation". It takes its name from the Barossa Valley, where many German people settled during the 19th century. Some words from Barossa German have entered South Australian English.

Er war jedoch enger an die deutsche Hochsprache angelehnt als beispielsweise das ähnlich entstandene Pennsilfaanisch Deitsch in den USA. Ein Satzbeispiel lautet: Der rabbit ist über den fence gejumpt und hat die carrots abgenibbelt (Der Hase ist über den Zaun gehüpft und hat die Karotten abgenagt). Während des Ersten Weltkriegs wurde die Verwendung der deutschen Sprache in Australien aktiv unterdrückt. So wurden deutsche Ortsnamen umbenannt. Auch brach die Einwanderung aus Deutschland kriegsbedingt ab. In der Folge verschwand Barossadeutsch zunehmend und wird heute nicht mehr gesprochen.
