- BCS Professional Examinations is a professional examinations/qualifications scheme organised by the British Computer Society (BCS), it is similar in nature to the accountancy world's ACCA qualifications. BCS examinations are administered in many countries worldwide twice a year. The scheme awards are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and within the scope of the Lisbon Recognition Convention. Organised into three stages the examinations require students to pass 11 exams (of which 6 elective) and complete a project before being awarded the Professional Graduate Diploma (PGD) in IT. The PGD is acknowledged as equivalent to a Bachelor's degree with Honours and gives direct entry to professional membership (MBCS) of the society. Many Universities consider the PGD as a valid qualification for admission to master's degree programmes of study.
