Aydıncık is a town and district of Mersin Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, 173 km (107 mi) from Mersin and 325 km (202 mi) from Antalya. Aydıncık has also been called Celenderis, Gilindire, Kelenderis. This remote coastline is mostly unspoilt and 38 kilometers long, including some sandy beach, and the town of Aydıncık is spread along the coast near a small point, Sancak Burnu.

  • Celenderis fou una ciutat de Pamfília a la costa, propera al límit amb Cilícia. Tradicionalment se la suposa fundada pels fenicis i més tard ocupada per grecs de Samos. Tenia un temple a Juno a la riba del riu Is. Fou capital de la comarca anomenada Celenderitis. Modernament es diu Gulnar i només resten ruïnes de l'època romana però s'han trobat monedes dels selèucides amb la inscripció Kelenderiton.

Elle a été appelée Kelenderis puis Gilindere avant de prendre son nom actuel en 1965.
