The word "AyA" deriving from the Japanese Language means design and is pronounced i'ya. AyA was founded in 2000 by David Marcus, son of former founder of Canac Kitchens; Karl Marcus. It was incorporated in the United States in 2003. AyA launched one of the industry’s first Green Design programs in 2007. Its FSC certified EVO line of cabinetry was launched in 2008. AyA is also active in the community, supporting projects such as “The Room That Hope Built”, a patient’s lounge in the cancer ward at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital and Habitat for Humanity. AyA has been a regular supplier to the popular TV show “Divine Design with Candice Olson,” and has been featured in magazines such as Canadian Living, Canadian House and Home as well as The Globe and Mail and National Post newspapers.
