The Authentic Radical Liberal Party (Partido Liberal Radical Auténtico or PLRA) is a liberal party in Paraguay. The party is a member of Liberal International. At the last legislative elections, 27 April 2003, the party won 25.7 % of the popular vote and 21 out of 80 seats in the Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay and 24.3 %, leading to 12 out of 45 seats in the Senate. Its candidate at the presidential elections of the same day, Julio César Franco, won 24.0 % of the popular vote.

The liberales, as they are known, are the leading opposition to the dominant Colorado Party. They have taken this position since the end of the Alfredo Stroessner dictatorship in 1989. They are the political successors of the Liberal Party. In the presidential Elections of 2008, the party has achieved victory over the Colorado Party for the first time in 61 years through a political alliance with Fernando Lugo and other leftist political parties. They have gained a majority, or at least tied up with the Colorados, for the number of seats in the House of Deputies and Senate.

Esto, porque desde 1947 hasta 1963 se mantuvo un sistema de partido único en que sólo el Partido Colorado fue legal; a más de que el gobierno, la burocracia estatal, los poderes del Estado y el partido único se convirtieron en el territorio institucional de la política, teniendo a las diversas corrientes coloradas como únicos actores de la acción política. En el 2000, se realizaron las elecciones nacionales para elegir al vicepresidente de la república, y salió electo el afiliado al PLRA y ex presidente del mismo, Julio César Franco. Su candidato a las elecciones presidenciales, el ex-obispo Fernando Lugo acompañado en la candidatura a la Vice Presidencia por Federico Franco, resultó triunfante el 20 de abril de 2008.

Lors des élections législatives du 27 avril 2003, le parti obtient 25,7 % des voix et 21 des 80 sièges à la chambre des députés. Aux élections sénatoriales, le parti obtient 24,3 % et 12 sièges sur les 45 du Sénat. Le même jour avait lieu une élection présidentielle et le candidat Julio César Franco du PLRA reçoit 24,0 % des voix. Le PLRA est le premier parti d'opposition à l'Association nationale républicaine. Une lutte oppose le PLRA à l'ANR depuis les années 1930. Le PLRA s'appelait alors Parti libéral. À la fin des années 1930, le PLRA qui dominait la vie politique paraguayenne depuis le début du siècle commence à perdre son pouvoir au profit de l'ANR. Les dictatures militaires successives renforcent l'ANR et le parti libéral s'éteint sous la dictature d'Alfredo Stroessner. Le PLRA prend la place du parti libéral et s'oppose à l'ANR.
