Augusta (also known as Augusta-Richmond County) is a consolidated city in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is the principal city of the Augusta-Richmond County Metropolitan Statistical Area, which as of July 2007 had an estimated population of 528,519. It is the largest city in East Central Georgia, the second largest metro area in the state after Atlanta, and the 113th largest city in the U.S.

  • Augusta är en stad i den amerikanska delstaten Georgia med en yta av 851 km² och en befolkning, som uppgår till ca 194 000 invånare (2003). Ca 50 % av befolkningen i staden är afroamerikaner. Av befolkningen lever ca 20 % under fattigdomsgränsen. Staden, som grundades 1735 som en försvarsutpost mot spanjorer och fransmän, är belägen i den centrala delen av delstaten vid floden Savannah River ca 250 km öster om huvudstaden Atlanta.
