Ashford, historically known as Ballymacahara, is a village County Wicklow, Republic of Ireland. It lies on the R772 regional road. The Vartry River flows under the road in the village centre. Until recently Ashford was on the main Dublin - Wexford route, the N11, but was bypassed by the new N11 in 2004. This has made a great change to the traffic problem that was before the bypass was installed. Ashford is about 3 km (1.9 mi) north of Rathnew, which is on the outskirts of Wicklow Town.

The gardens were previously owned and operated by Madelaine Jay and the Jay family, but recently the gardens and shopping courtyard were sold to the Avoca Handweavers company, which originated in Kilmacanogue, County Wicklow, and which has been owned and operated by the Pratt family for many generations. In recent years the village has seen rapid growth as it becomes part of the Dublin commuter belt and the soccer team was promoted to the premier league in Wicklow, the manager of this team is Pancho Farrell In terms of public transport Ashford is served by Bus Éireann route 133, linking it with Wicklow and Dublin, while routes 002 and 006 link it with Rosslare Harbour and Waterford respectively.
