Asa Clapp was a United States Representative from Maine. He was born in Portland on March 6, 1805. He graduated from the Norwich Military Academy in 1823. He engaged as a merchant in foreign and domestic commerce in Portland. He was elected as a Democrat to the Thirtieth Congress (March 4, 1847-March 3, 1849). He was not a candidate for renomination. He was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1848 and 1852.
