Arthur Latham Conger Jr was a theosophist and president of the Theosophical Society Pasadena. He studied at Harvard University and graduated in 1892. After 1894 he studied Theology at Cambridge, Massachusetts. He planned to become a priest in the Episcopal Church. However, a bishop learned of his theosophical interests, and gave him an ultimatum: "Church or Theosophy". Conger opted for Theosophy and went to New York City to work actively in the Theosophical Society.
