The group has released six full length albums in its history and an early non-LP single. In 1983 the group entered a dormant period and the members did not perform together again until 2000, when the band reunited for a few select concerts and gigs in the Triangle area in celebration of Arrogance's 30th anniversary. The most notable was the "Reunion" concert at the Regency Park Amphitheatre in Cary in 2002. After large turnouts at the band's 2000-2002 performances, Arrogance began performing again in local clubs, bars, and at special events, averaging about one show a year. The band's current lineup consists of Rod Abernethy, Don Dixon, Scott Davison, Robert Kirkland, and Marty Stout. Arrogance began in a dorm room at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill when Don Dixon and Robert Kirkland began singing together in 1969 . The band's success has inspired numerous other North Carolinian bands to emerge in search of national fame. Christened arrogance by Don Dixon for their reputation of blowing other bands off the stage and known for their smart lyrics and catchy rock tunes, arrogance was an indie band before there were indie bands. . . It all began in a dorm room in Chapel Hill the fall of 1969, when freshmen Robert Kirkland and Don Dixon started playing and singing together. Joined by Marty Stout, Scott Davison, Rod Abernethy and Ogie Shaw the band soon became an area favorite. Their unique sound and exceptional harmonies were honed and perfected in clubs and venues though out the area. . . seeing them play became a rite of passage. One of the greatest live bands to ever come out of the Triangle, they amassed a large and loyal fan base and drew huge crowds for their performances. Arrogance's strategy of insisting on playing only original music, building a regional following and releasing their own music was not only unparalleled, it was radical and brought the band to the edge of national fame. Although the band members went their separate musical ways in 1983, they reunited in 2000 for a 30th anniversary celebration, brought out their 6th album in 2002 and have been playing ever since. Musically far ahead of their time, the songs are still fun and germane today. Their audience spans generations . . not only the college students of the ‘70s and ‘80s, but their children who still can’t get enough arrogance. Legends of the North Carolina music scene, no one else will ever quite be arrogance!
