- Arnoldo Martínez Verdugo is a Mexican politician and leader of Mexican left, at present member of the Party of the Democratic Revolution, former leader of the Mexican Communist Party and of the Unified Socialist Party of Mexico. Arnoldo Martínez Verdugo, native of Sinaloa, initiated since youth of his activities as the laborer, first in Sonora and subsequently in Mexico City, in 1946, he joined Mexican Communist Party, of the one that quick and became one of its noticeable leaders, in 1959 was chosen member of the Collective Secretariat that directed him and in 1963 was chosen as Secretary general of the Central Committee of the party was ratified successively until 1981. He was one of the protagonists of the political negotiations that in 1978 they flowed into in the first electoral reform of the state that permitted that the PCM obtained registration conditioned, could participate in the 1979 election, where obtained 18 depuites of which was performed as Parliamentary Coordinator. - Arnoldo Martínez Verdugo ist ein mexikanischer Politiker des linkspolitischen Flügels. Er war von 1963 bis 1981 Parteivorsitzender der Partido Comunista Mexicano (PCM) und nach deren Auflösung Vorsitzender der Partido Socialista Unificado de México (PSUM). Heute ist er Mitglied der Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD). Martínez war bereits im Jugendalter politisch engagiert, zunächst in Sonora und später in Mexiko-Stadt. 1946 schloss er sich der Partido Comunista Mexicano an, wo er ab 1959 dem PCM-Kollektivsekretariat angehörte und 1963 den Parteivorsitz übernahm. Nachdem die PCM 1981 mit drei weiteren Linksparteien in der Partido Socialista Unificado de México zusammengefasst wurde, wurde er dort zum Parteipräsidenten gewählt. Bei den Präsidentschaftswahlen 1988 schloss er sich der Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano und dann auch der an Bedeutung gewinnenden Partido de la Revolución Democrática.

Arnoldo Martínez Verdugo, originario de Sinaloa, inició desde muy joven sus actividades como obrero, primero en Sonora y posteriormente en la Ciudad de México, ahí en 1946 se unió al Partido Comunista Mexicano, del que pronto se convirtió en uno de sus líderes destacados, en 1959 fue electo miembro del Secretariado Colectivo que lo dirigía y en 1963 fue electo como Secretario General del Comité Central del Partido, cargo en el que fue ratificado sucesivamente hasta 1981. Fue uno de los protagonistas de las negociaciones políticas que en 1978 desembocaron en la primera reforma electoral del régimen que permitió que el PCM obtuviera registro condicionado, pudiera participar en las Elecciones de 1979, donde obtuvo 18 diputados de los cuales se desempeñó como Coordinador Parlamentario. En 1981 dirigió la disolución del Partido Comunista Mexicano y su fusión con otras fuerzas de izquiera que constituyeron el Partido Socialista Unificado de México, el cual lo postuló a la presidencia en las Elecciones de 1982, antes de esto, fue secuestrado y liberado tras el pago de un rescate. Posteriormente se unió a las fuerzas que postulaban a Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano a la Presidencia en 1988 y luego al naciente Partido de la Revolución Democrática.
- Arnoldo Martínez Verdugo is een Mexicaans politicus van de Partij van de Democratische Revolutie (PRD). Martínez Verdugo was geboren in Sinaloa en sloot zich in 1946 aan bij de Mexicaanse Communistische Partij (PCM). Hij klom snel op in de rengen; in 1959 werd hij tot het collectief secretariaat van de partij benoemd en in 1963 werd hij gekozen tot secretaris-generaal. Hij nam in de jaren '70 deel aan onderhandelingen met de Mexicaanse regering in het kader van de democratische opening, waardoor de PCM in 1979 haar officiële registratie kreeg. In dat jaar weden achttien kandidaten in de Kamer van Afgevaardigden gekozen waaronder Martínez Verdugo. In 1981 organiseerde hij de opheffing van de PCM om met een aantal andere kleine linkse organisaties te fuseren tot de Verenigde Socialistische Partij van Mexico (PSUM), waarvoor hij in 1982 presidentskandidaat was. Hij behaalde 3,48% van de stemmen. In 1988 sloot hij zich aan bij de presidentscampagne van Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas en een jaar later bij diens Partij van de Democratische Revolutie, waarvoor hij van 1994 tot 1997 opnieuw afgevaardigde was, en van 1997 tot 2000 voorzitter van het district Coyoacán in Mexico-stad.
