The hamlet of Kiyotaki, a small scenic village at the base of Mt Atago, the home to a notable Shinto shrine. Matsuo Shrine, half a mile south of the area, which is home to a blessed spring. It is also one of the oldest shrines in the Kyoto area, founded in 700. The alleged restorative properties of the spring bring many local sake and miso companies to the shrine for prayers that their product will be blessed. Kameyama koen has a stone commemorating Zhou Enlai's visited to Arashiyama. He was moved by the cherry blossoms and mountain greenery. The four poems Zhou Enlai wrote about his visit are engraved on a stone monument: "Arashiyama in the Rain."

Togetsukyo, el pont sobre el riu Hozu, pintat per artistes famosos al llarg dels segles. La tomba dels cortesans Heike Kogo de Sagano. Tenryū-ji, el principal temple de la branca Rinzai del budisme zen. Una de les activitats més conegudes és fer la baixada del riu Hozu en barca des de Kameoka fins a Arashiyama. Des d'Arashiyama es pota anar a Kameoka fent servir un tren turístic. Des del centre de Kyoto es pot arribar a Arashiyama en autobús, en el tranvía municipal Keifuku i amb tren (Hankyu o JR).
- Arashiyama (嵐山, « montagne de la tempête ») se situe au bord des montagnes, à l’ouest de la ville de Kyôto. La région fait partie d’une plus grande, appelée Sagano (嵯峨野), et du quartier administratif ouest de la ville, Ukyo-ku. - 嵐山（あらしやま）は京都府京都市の観光地。国の史跡および名勝に指定されている。本来地名としては西京区（桂川の右岸）を指し、左岸は右京区嵯峨であるが、観光案内等では嵯峨地区を含めた渡月橋（とげつきょう）周辺全域を一まとめに嵐山と称する事が多いため、本記事では渡月橋周辺全域をしての嵐山を扱う。 嵐山は桜や紅葉の名所である。京都市街の西に位置し、平安時代に貴族の別荘地となって以来、京都の代表的な観光地となっている。嵐山の中心部を流れる桂川にかかる渡月橋は嵐山の象徴になっている。なお渡月橋をはさんで上流が大堰（おおい）川で、下流から桂川となる。JR山陰線の北側には嵯峨野と呼ばれる観光地が広がっている。 元来は寺社めぐりや紅葉などの景観が観光の主体であった。1980年代には渡月橋の北側を中心にタレントショップが急増し、修学旅行生など若い観光客で賑わう一方で、雰囲気が破壊されるとの批判もある。バブル崩壊後はこうしたタレントショップは減少傾向にある。 1990年代以降、小規模な博物館の開館が相次いでいる。また、2004年には温泉が掘削された。 観光シーズンになると渋滞が激しく道路交通が麻痺してしまうため、乗用車の乗り入れ規制や、郊外に格安または無料の駐車場を整備しそこからバスで運ぶパーク・アンド・ライドの実験が行われた。 大堰川の上流の保津川の流域では林業が盛んであり、伐採した木材を京都の街に運ぶために川が使われた。嵐山はその終着点であり、現在では同じコースを遊覧船で下る「保津川下り」が亀岡市から体験できる。
