Arabs in Pakistan have a long history. The first form of contact between the Arab people and modern-day Pakistan originally came in 711 A. D, when Muhammad bin Qasim, a youthful Arab military general, was on a quest to free Muslim traders and their families who had apparently been kidnapped by Raja Dahir's pirates while they were returning in a merchant ship to their homes in Iraq's city of Basra from Sri Lanka.

However, another version tells us about the migration of a number of the descendants of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, to Sindh, after the atrocities by the Omayya and Abassi caliphs against them. It is reported that Muhammad bin Qasim was sent to Sindh by Hajjaj bin Yousuf, to forcefully bring back the females of the Sayyid families yet Raja Dahir tried to protect them and refused to send them back against their wish.
