Insbesondere A. flos-aquae tritt in Form von Wasserblüten (Name!) massenhaft auf. Von den Karpfenzüchtern wird sie irrtümlich als Zeichen guter Fruchtbarkeit des betroffenen Teiches geschätzt. Ihr Auftreten zeigt aber untrüglich eine einseitige Überdüngung mit Phosphor an.
