Die Forelle lebt in den kühlen Strömen der White Mountains, in Sümpfen und in einigen Seen in Arizona. Die Apacheforellen haben ihre Laichzeit von März bis Mitte Juni. Forellen ernähren sich von Wasserinsekten wie Köcherfliegen oder Zweiflüglern. Die in Seen lebenden Apacheforellen fressen auch kleine Fische und Plankton.
