Antiochene Rite designates the family of liturgies originally used in the Patriarchate of Antioch: that of the Apostolic Constitutions; then that of St. James in Greek, the Syriac Liturgy of St. James, and the other Syriac Anaphoras. The line may be further continued to the Byzantine Rite (the older Liturgy of St. Basil and the later and shorter one of St. John Chrysostom), and through it to the Armenian use. But these no longer concern the Church of Antioch.

Dem Antiochenischen Ritus in vielem engstens verwandt ist der Syro-Maronitische Ritus, die Liturgie der Maroniten. Die Syrische Liturgie und die Maronitische Liturgie bilden zusammen die Westsyrischen Liturgien und werden in der Liturgiewissenschaft häufig gemeinsam und vergleichend behandelt. Studien zur „Malankarischen Liturgie“ behandeln stets den Antiochenischen Ritus.

Esas liturgias son las contenidas en las Constituciones Apostólicas del siglo IV, luego la de Santiago en griego, la Liturgia Siria de Santiago y las anáforas sirias. La línea continúa con el rito bizantino (la más antigua liturgia de San Basilio y la posterior y más breve de San Juan Crisóstomo) y a través del rito armenio. La liturgia siria oriental usada por la antigua iglesia del Oriente deriva también de la antioquena.
