Ante Šupuk (1838 - 1904) was a Croatian engineer and inventor, who in 1895 built the world's first hydroelectric power plant. The hydroelectric power plant on the Krka river supplied Šibenik with electricity, making it the third city in the world with alternating current-powered street lights.
