A classically-trained ballerina, Makhova was discovered by a casting agent in her hometown, Krivoy Rog, in 1999, and went on to appear in numerous commercials, for companies such as Nestlé, Noxema, and Pivdennyi Bank. Makhova had her first international break in Budapest, Hungary, in 2002, where she was the female host for the television game show Zsé. Makhova was then recruited by MBM, Inc.

Makhova was then recruited by MBM, Inc. in Romania to become the face of its new salon chain, Backstage. Following this, Makhova started her own firm in Romania that helped companies establish themselves there, guiding their brand management and marketing efforts throughout the country. After selling her firm in late 2007, Makhova joined Portfolio Consulting, BT of Hungary in 2008.
