Anhalt was a sovereign county in Germany, located between the Harz Mountains and the river Elbe in Middle Germany. It now forms part of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

Den evangeliske landskirke i Anhalt har ennå den dag i dag sitt virkeområde i den historiske regionen Anhalt.

Il doit son nom au vieux château d'Anhalt, situé dans la forêt du Harz et dont il ne reste que des ruines. Il était enclavé dans la Prusse et borné au nord par le Brandebourg, à l'ouest par la Saxe prussienne et le Brunswick, au sud par le royaume de Saxe. Il avait pour capitale Dessau, et était composé de deux parties (Anhalt oriental et occidental) et de cinq enclaves en Saxe prussienne: Alsleben, Muhlingen, Dornburg, Goednitz et Tilkerode-Abberode.
