- Angika (Dev. अङ्गिका or अंगिका) is a language of the Anga region of India, a 58,000 km² area that falls within the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Angika is spoken by around 725,000 people in India and Considered to be one of the oldest language of the world. Angika is also spoken in Munger, Bhagalpur,Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta, Durgapur, Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro and other parts of the country. Angika is also spoken in Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries. Besides this, a sizeable Angika speaking population exists in countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Angika is closely related to the Maithili language, and was classified by Sir George A. Grierson as a dialectal variant of Maithili, which he termed as "Chikka-Chikki". It has affinity to the Eastern Indo-Aryan languages, such as Bengali, Oriya, and Assamese. It had been traditionally classified as a "Bihari languages," which includes Bhojpuri, Magahi, Maithili, and Vajjika), and it has only recently been claimed as an independent language, though it is an ancient dialect.. The name Angika first appeared in the 1961 census. Angika is highly intelligible with other Bihari languages. Angika is commonly written in the Devanagari script, although Kaithi was used historically. Various alternate names for the language are used: Anga, Aangi, Angikar, Chhika-Chhiki, Bhagalpuri, Apbhramsa, Bihari. Dialects of Angika include: Deshi, Dakhnaha, Mungeria, Devgharia, Gidhhoria, Dharampuria.
- Angičtina (v dévanágarí अङ्गिका nebo अंगिका) je jazyk pocházející z indického regionu Anga, území 58 000 km² zahrnující dnešní státy Bihár, Džárkhand a Západní Bengálsko. Počet mluvčích je odhadován na 50 miliónů, z toho 30 miliónů v Indii. Další místa v Indii, kde se mluví angicky jsou Bombaj, Dillí, Kalkata, Durgapur, Paňdžáb, Vadodara, Surat, Patna, Ránčí, Džámšedpúr, Bokaro a další. Angické mluvčí nalezneme také v Kambodži, Vietnamu, Malajsii a v dalších zemích Jihovýchodní Asie. Kromě toho značná populace angických mluvčích žije v zemích jako jsou USA a Velká Británie. Angičtina je blízce příbuzná s bengálštinou, urijštinou a asámštinou. Patří společně s bhojpurštinou, magahijštinou a maithilštinou do skupiny bihárských jazyků, které jsou vzájemně velmi dobře srozumitelné. Saraha, první hindský básník, byl zároveň prvním básníkem angičtiny a angické literatury. Saraha žil v 8. století a byl prvním básníkem, jehož dílo je dostupné v psané podobě. Existuje webový portál v angličtině zaměřený na angičtinu, angika. com. Internetový vyhledávač Google má také svoji angickou verzi. George GA Grierson nazývá angičtinu Chikka-Chiki (Čika-Čiki) v jednom svém Linigvistickém průzkumu Indie.
