Andromeda is a progressive metal band from Sweden formed in 1999. They are currently signed to Massacre Records, Replica Records and Avalon/Marquee. They have recorded five albums as of 2008, as well as a live DVD. There are two versions of their first album, Extension of the Wish. The original recording features their first vocalist Lawrence Mackrory. The second version has all of the original instrument tracks, but with their replacement vocalist David Fremberg.

Mais le groupe va être sujet à un problème de chanteur : en effet, le vocaliste initial tourne le dos au groupe juste avant l’enregistrement de leur premier album; après de longues recherches sans résultat, le groupe doit se résoudre à enregistrer avec un chanteur de session du nom de Lauwrence Mackrory. Ils enregistrent leur album et sortent celui-ci sous le nom d’Extension Of The Wish. L’accueil est unanime : l’album est magnifique, les critiques ne tarissent pas d’éloges. Mais Andromeda est à la recherche d’un chanteur stable, qui pourra les suivre en tournée. Le groupe trouve finalement David Fremberg. Avec le dernier venu, ils réenregistrent les parties vocales de l’album. "Final Extension" est le nom de l'album réenregistré sortie en 2004 L'album "II=I" voit le jour en 2003, avec une production plus soignée, plus mature, c'est un sommet du metal progressif. Il ne sera jamais distribué en France. En 2006 sort le troisième album, "Chimera", qui marque le retour du groupe dans notre pays, grâce au distributeur Replica Records. Le premier DVD Live d'Andromeda, "Playing off the board" sort en Avril 2007 à la suite d'une tournée Européenne. Le quatrième et plus récent album à ce jour est "The Immunity Zone" et a été distribué en France par XIII Bis Records en Septembre 2008. L'album n'a été distribué dans le reste de l'Europe qu'à partir du 27 Février 2009. Cet album voit encore un tournant dans la maturité du groupe avec cette fois-ci des compositions plus sombres, brutales, énergiques et intelligentes.
