Also spelled 'Aundipatty' the town is known all over the state as having been the constituency of the late state chief minister M. G. Ramachandran, and more recently the constituency of J. Jayalalithaa, another ex-chief minister of Tamil Nadu. There is an NGO based in Aundipatty called Arogya Agam.

The Vaigai Dam which is one major reservoirs in Tamil Nadu is 7 km away from Andipatty. This town has another known small village called T. Subbulapuram which is very famous for the Govt primary health center which rehabiliates the people in and around the town every month. This village is located 1 km frm andipatti and have mini buses and town bus frequency every 10 min. The big mountain near the hospital called T. subbulapuram malai is worthy of note around that place. There are many nearby villages and municipalities near Andipatti including varadarajapuram, kothapatti, T. subbulapuram etc.. Legendary Leader Thekkampatty Balasundarraj was from Andipatti.
