Andha Naal is a Tamil film directed by S. Balachander (popularly called as Veenai Balachander). It is probably the first film-noir in Tamil cinema, and is the first Tamil film without songs. The movie's main narrative is based on Akira Kurosawa's classic Rashômon. The screenplay writer has also acted in the movie as a CID officer investigating a murder case. However, in contrast to Rashômon, the movie's climax provides a solution to the murder using an ancient Indian parable as a vital clue.
